Craniosacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach which assists the body’s natural capacity for self-repair. Using very light touch, the therapist helps to release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system.
Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is suitable for babies, children, and the elderly, as well as adults and people experiencing fragile or acutely painful conditions. The work can involve resolution of past traumatic events and is often profoundly relaxing, deeply moving and exhilarating. The work can address physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances, or simply help to develop well-being, health and vitality.
Clients remain fully clothed in comfortable loose clothing during a cranial session.

Myofascial Release and Unwinding

Myofascial Release involves the application of gentle sustained pressure into Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to relieve and eventually eliminate pain and restore motion. “Myo” means muscle and “fascia” means band. Fascia, which is a type of connective tissue, is a continuous web of elastin and collagen fibers surrounded by a viscous fluid called the “ground substance.” Fascia is very strong, with a high degree of flexibility, while the ground substance is a fluid transportation medium and acts as a slide and glide mechanism between structures.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures can create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (e.g., x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage therapy uses slow hands-on strokes and direct deep pressure to work with the deeper layers of muscle tissue to release chronic muscle tension as well as to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on specific areas and can sometimes cause some soreness during or right after the massage, which normally doesn’t last more than a day or two. Deep tissue massage is very beneficial to your health. When muscles are stressed, they block the flow of oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep tissue massage helps to relax and loosen muscle tissues, release toxins, and restore proper blood and oxygen circulation.

Babies and Children

Babies and children can also benefit from Craniosacral Therapy in particular.
Craniosacral Therapy is  used to help many different issues which cause discomfort or pain.
These include:

  • torticollis and plagiochephaly
  • seizures
  • difficulty feeding
  • colic
  • tongue tie
  • difficulty sleeping
  • traumatic birth
  • vacuum extraction
  • ADD and ADHD
